Blackburn Rovers Football ClubBlackburn Rovers F.C., also known as ‘Rovers’, are a football club who play within the English Premiership, also known as the Premier League. The club are based within Blackburn, a city in the county of Lancashire and are a founding member of both the former Football League and today’s Premiership. Established in the year 1875, the team soon made the transition into a professional side when helping to found the Football League in 1888. The club moved to their present ground, Ewood Park, back in 1890 which seats some 31,000 fans. Before the start of the English Premier League during 1992 almost all the clubs success had been before 1930, winning the FA Cup more than once but in 1966 they we’re relegated and suffered 26 consecutive seasons out of the top flight. |

The Rovers made it back into the top flight in 1992, in time for the first season to be played in the newly formed Premier League. This all happened just one year after the club was taken over by local steel producer and fan Jack Walker, who recruited and put in place Kenny Dalglish as their new Manager. Just 3 years later, in 1995, Blackburn Rovers won the Premier League title thanks to their multi-million pre-season transfer spend on the likes of Chris Sutton and Alan Shearer. Blackburn failed to hold onto the title and soon fell from contention to be relegated once again in 1999. Just two seasons later the club we’re right back up and have been ever since. |

Ewood Park Stadium Blackburn Rovers currently play at Ewood Park, and have been doing so since 1890. Prior to their move to the 31,000 seater the team played out of Lemington Road during 1881 to 1890. Ework Park holds the records as the oldest consecutive stadium of any Premier League team, which is longer than clubs Liverpool and Chelsea despite both their stadiums being built before Blackburns. Blackburn Rovers Football Shirt The kit of Blackburn Rovers FC has traditionally been blue and white and it is in these colours at the team plays their home fixtures in to this day. The design of the football shirt has remained mainly the same, with two different colours split in some way across the body of the shirt. This is also accompanied by the corresponding colour match of a sleeve and one side of the shirt side of the shirt. Blackburn Rovers have been playing in these colours since 1904, with the present shirt being made by sportswear manufacturer Umbro. The current team sponsors are Bet24, whose logo can be seen spread across the center of the shirt however for the 2008-09 season the Rovers have just announced a new sponsorship deal with previous sponsor Crown Paints for a three year deal. |
